Don’t let that childhood crush on Mary Poppins fade just yet. Her umbrella comes in handy for these gloomy days (NYC spoken for at least), and who are we kidding anyways…simply put, babysitter fantasies die hard. Today’s label showcase draws from the West London-based, Rough Trade label catalogue and will surely have you fantasizing about an indie rocking Mary Poppins. In addition to The 1990’s and Jarvis Cocker, DJ Annie plays tracks from The Veils, The Libertines, Belle and Sebastian, and several others from one of UK’s most respected labels. Let’s just say your English nanny, fantasy mixtape will never be the same.

And whether you’re day has been horrible or excellent or so-so or just beginning, here’s something to make it better. On BTR Live Studio, Australian musician New Buffalo performs songs from her new album Somewhere, Anywhere. New Buffalo singer and songwriter Sally Seltmann speaks with DJ Maia and shows us just what beautiful music is. Seltmann wrote the Feist-recorded “1234,” but be ready to surrender all emotion to New Buffalo.
